Yoshino Cedar House 2016/17

Yoshino, Japan
Architect: Joe Gebbia and Go Hasegawa

Designed by Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, with Japanese Architect Go Hasegawa, the building was originally an exercise in new ways of living for an exhibition in Tokyo, before being given to the town of Yoshino. In Yoshino, an area famed for its spring blossoming trees, it is used as an Airbnb guest house and a community centre. Every detail of the structure, from the locally-milled wood to the communal dining table, inspires connection to the people of Yoshino and their underlying traditions. Blueprint visited the project — and you can read all about it here.
